Carolyn Chen at MonkSpace

In December of 2019, I produced a concert of Carolyn Chen’s music as a part of the Tuesdays at MonkSpace series. This project was great to work on for a number of reasons. Carolyn Chen is a remarkable composer and I wanted to feature her work in this portrait-style concert so that the audience could experience her text scores as well as some of her more traditionally notated pieces. The musicians were also incredible. Christine Tavolacci performed a solo flute piece that was written for her by Carolyn in 2015.

Carolyn’s quartet was written as a prelude to David Tudor’s Rainforests as a part of a Southland Ensemble concert in the spring of 2016.
